MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers transforming cooking oil into biodiesel currently take advantage of a 20p differential but that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has actually been meeting the biodiesel alliance.

Mr George said "a number of small services in Cornwall currently make cash from utilized cooking oil".

He added: "In order to be able to get this sort of market going it does need simply a little bit of lift which can be found in the kind of tax inescapable."

Biodiesel is a mix of conventional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
