Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have actually been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is vital that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be harmful.

"These kinds of products being sold, normally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.
